DOS’ OF LEADERSHIP


1.      Have a Vision
·         Think ahead
·         Have a big picture
·         See differently
·         Commit yourself to being able to deliver value

2.      He burning desire to achieve
·         Energise yourself
·         Focus on the ball
·         Act and achieve
·         Show results

3.      Lead for the benefit of the led
·         Leadership is about followers
·         There are no leaders without followers
·         Leadership shows followers direction
·         Leadership enables followers to succeed

4.      Determination, resolve, decision
·         Don’t give up
·         Have the will to achieve
·         Take action

5.      Energize your followers
·       Empower them to perform
·       Motivate them to perform
·       Enable them to succeed
·       Complement them
·       Allow them to make mistakes

6.      Be natural and genuine
·         Don’t pretend, be yourself
·         But be the good self
·         Be sincere to people
·         Have empathy



7.      Tolerate ambiguity
·         Be calm when the unknown hits
·         Cope with uncertainty, don’t panic
·         Cope with change, it is normal
·         Always expect new thing and new situations
·         The unknown brings with it opportunities and threats, watch for them.

8.      Balance between logic and emotion
·         The Art of leadership is to balance the head-logic and emotional the heart. The heart is a seat of feelings and compassion. Balance depends on judgement plus vision. Know when to stop reasoning and when to stir emotion.

9.      Be soft, but firm
·         Be mature in your behaviour and dealings
·         Have inner peace, it provides outer calmness
·         Manage your ego, there are always people more important than you
·         Have freedom from arrogance and bad moods

10.  Coping with disappointment, defeat
·         Failure is normal
·         Learn to fail But learn to get up
·         There is always another opportunity.

·         Don’t loose your temper
·         Hold to your esteem
·         Watch for bad feelings

12.  Be committed
·         Have the resilience
·         Stay on course
·         Persevere despite difficulty

13.  It is not absence of weakness that shows effective leadership, but presence of strength
·         We all have weaknesses
·         Certain issues will make us weak, but have the strength to carry on

·         Can you get up when you have failed.
